Fitzroy Shorts is proud to announce that it will donate half this Months door proceeds to the Tsunami Relief Appeal. A small coin can create a lot of change. Heading the line up for the launch of Fitzroy Shorts 2005 screening calendar is Sejong Parks Birthday Boy, (Section Winner Annecy International Animation Festival for Best First Film 2004 and AFI 2004 winner for Best Short Animation, Best Sound and Best Screenplay) tipped to be Australias SECOND OSCAR winner for 2005 in the Academy Award short Animation category. And the abundance of local talent continues with Darcy Yuilles Blue Poles a stunning short set in 1970s Australia starring 2004 AFI Best Actor award winner Sam Worthington (Somersault).
From the USA we have Sevens Eleven, a comical view of the kids crime world directed by award winning director Amy Iorio. Also featured is one of the more unusual and experimental works by Norwegian filmmaker Jorgen Johansen (Green Light) and the controversial but timely documentary Decent, Generous, Tolerant Open-Minded (white) People by VCA Graduate Katrina Sawyer which takes a refreshing look at the meaning of the word 'neighbours'.
New in 2005 is the Fitzroy Shorts Screeners Club, which offers fantabulous discounts for audience members to year long Fitzroy Shorts events and selected retail outlets in Fitzroy and North Melbourne. All you have to do is show up buy your year-long ticket and you can come and go to Fitzroy Shorts as you please!!
