Federation Square in partnership with Optus and City of Melbourne presents the 2007 Advent Calendar
Celebrate the spirit of Christmas as the East Shard at Federation Square is transformed into a magical Advent Calendar
24 days, 25 windows, 25 performances.
This Christmas, Federation Square will present a special daily ritual that opens a window on the city.
Enjoy a free performance at 9pm every night in December and an extra, finale at 11.45pm on Christmas Eve. Watch as some of Melbournes most talented and daring aerialists perform in front of a magical animation and unveil the days window on the side of a three-storey building.
Follow the journey of characters Hope and Inspiration. With a little help from Inspiration, Hope can get out of any tricky situation and find where Hope is needed most. Travelling through the universe on a scooter, Hope discovers the frenzy and fun of Christmas.
Come during the day and see the giant present. Take a sneak peek at Hope and Inspiration inside the box, post your Christmas wishes to Hope through the postal boxes and even have your picture taken with Hope and Inspiration. You could even win a mobile phone thanks to Optus who are giving away 24 mobile phones, one each night of the Advent Calendar.
The Advent Calendar is developing into an iconic event that is recognised around the world as a unique celebration of Christmas in the city. During the inaugural 2006 season, people as far away as London and Berlin logged on to their computers to watch the nightly performance of Advent Calendar live at Fed Square.
The Advent Calendar is presented as part of the Creative Christmas Program at Fed Square.
