Daffodil Day - Blooming Good Cause

Daffodil Day - Blooming Good Cause
Two million fresh daffodils will be in full bloom to help The Cancer Council Australia spread the message of hope for all touched by cancer on Daffodil Day, Friday 22 August.

By purchasing a daffodil in memory of a loved one, to celebrate a survivor, or to simply give hope to a cancer-free future, the community will assist Australia's leading cancer charity to reach its fundraising target of $9.5 million.

Daffodil Day contributions directly benefit the cancer control initiatives, patient support and education services of The Cancer Council Australia's eight state and territory member organisations.

Chief Executive Officer of The Cancer Council Australia, Professor Alan Coates said, "Cancer directly affects nearly one in three of us - and the rest of us will know someone who has cancer. The good news is that each year more Australians are surviving cancer, thanks to advances in treatment. But we still have a long way to go in our battle against this disease.

"Daffodil Day donations contribute to funding cancer research and information and support services available to people affected by cancer. This major event also gives Australians the chance to prove that by making a donation or being a Daffodil Day volunteer, everyone can do their bit for cancer control."

Simply visit www.daffodilday.com.au to order a pre-packed merchandise box or fresh daffodils to sell to friends, family, customers or work mates. The website also encourages Australians to post their Messages of hope on the online bulletin board.

Alternatively, Daffodil Day merchandise will be available from volunteer sites on the day or from the following national supporters throughout August: Coles Supermarkets, Kmart, Bi-Lo, First National Real Estate, HIC network of Medicare offices, ANZ, Amcal, QUIX, Rockmans/ BeMe, Millers Fashion Club, Katies, 1626, Crossroads, Silhouette, Spotlight and Ezibuy.

Coles, Bi-Lo and Woolworths also donate part proceeds from the sale of fresh daffodil bunches in the lead up to Daffodil Day.
