Sydney residents and visitors out and about this October will be participating in the citys most dynamic public visual art festival - the fifth annual Art & About.
For three weeks (October 3-22) Sydneys streets and public spaces will host arts events, exhibitions and activities, which will brighten the city and enrich the cultural landscape.
"Art & About brings visual arts to the people, with this years festival promising to be world class, stimulating and engaging," Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP said.
The program includes:
Sydney Life Photography Exhibition and Prize (valued at $10,000)
Twenty six finalists will have their images enlarged to the size of a bed sheet and suspended along the grand walk in Hyde Park North. The distinguished panel of judges will award one artist the Sydney Life Prize (valued at $10,000), provided by the City of Sydney and AMP Capital Investors.
Open Gallery
Artworks by contemporary Australian and international artists will be displayed throughout the city on banner poles. The exhibition will be curated by Barbara Flynn.
Living Colour
Citywide plant installations inspired by iconic artworks by Van Gogh, Matisse, Miro, Klimt and others.
Arts Hub
This years Art & About will transform Alfred Street, Circular Quay, into a dynamic arts hub with installations, night time projections and a range of exhibitions.
Art & About is presented by the City of Sydney and sponsored by AMP Capital Investors and The Sydney Morning Herald.
More events will be announced in the coming months and a full program will be available in September.
