Mitch Bag Green Dragon

Mitch Bag Green Dragon

Up-and-coming Melbourne-based producer, singer-songwriter Mitch Bag has released his new single "Green Dragon" which combines techno beats and grooves usually found in dance tracks with a smooth, fresh, melodic twang … kinda something like sipping a raspberry granita in the middle of a rave.

"My inspiration for 'Green Dragon' came from these little jade dragons my mum got over on a trip in Hong Kong," said Mitch. "I always had a real soft spot for them and I knew I'd have to write a song about them. I started doing some research about their symbolism and read that they represent creation and creativity; the song came pretty quickly from that point onwards. The lyrics focus on the moment a melody or lyric comes to you when creating and the utter bliss you experience in those few seconds of creativity.

Sonically, I wanted to infuse a heavier synth bass sound that you don't often hear in pop songs. I love techno artists like Victor Ruiz and Alex Stein and I've kind of made it a mantra of mine to blend those heavier dance elements with more traditional pop melodies. I like to make songs that you can sing and dance to..."

Growing up with a disc-jockey father, it was no surprise to those close to him when Mitch started making disco leaning tracks. Mitch's music has noticeable touches of artists such as George Michael in his later years crossed over with a modern techno feel.

For the better part of six years whilst he completed studies to become a Podiatrist, Mitch Bag has been creating songs out of his bedroom. In early 2021, working with ARIA award-winning producer Peter Holz, he uploaded a demo of his track, "Fake It To A Place" featuring his sister Ollie Olivia to Triple J Unearthed. The demo track was played on Triple J's 'Weekend Lunch' a few days later within the same week of release.
