Lakshane All Mine Interview

Interview with Lakshane

All Mine follows on from the whirlwind of success that Lakshane has seen over the last 12-months, including a headline show at Crown Casino, the feature of his debut single Don't Lie through Complex AU and the success of his latest single Let Her Go, which has now spent 3-weeks at #1 on the homemade music charts in Sri Lanka and been licensed to Universal Music Romania.

On top of his personal successes, Lakshane has also spent his time collaborating with renowned DJ/producer R-Cue on their latest single Like I Do, which has now garnered over 175k thousand views and received rotation on commercial stations including Fox FM and JOY FM.

Question: How would you describe your music?

Lakshane: My music is wide in variety. I feel like I can cover quite a few genres… but I've been developing my sound recently and you'll hear that on my EP. I've never been able to drop music that's completely me because I was still developing as an artist. I've now developed both as an artist and producer, and I feel like this new music will define me.

Question: What inspired All Mine?

Lakshane: All Mine is actually a real story explaining the feeling of how I felt when I was starting to see this girl. Everything was easy and refreshing, she was so chilled and it reflected on me as well. The lyrics came naturally and I didn't even put much thought into it, it was the fastest song I've ever written and recorded vocals too!

Question: How does it feel hearing your music on commercial radio?

Lakshane: Honestly it's the greatest feeling. After returning to Australia at 18, I had no idea about the music scene here, didn't even know what Triple J was until I was around 19. And to go from that to my music that I wrote and recorded in my bedroom being on national radio is the greatest feeling of achievement. There's more to come!

Question: Which is your favourite song to perform live and why?

Lakshane: I still love performing my first single Don't Lie, it's got good energy and production, and everyone seems to enjoy it (laughs)!

Question: If you could have anyone, in the world, attend a show, who would it be?

Lakshane: Probably Kanye or Drake, so that I can talk to them and have them sign me to their labels...

Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Lakshane: I love to perform live, it doesn't happen as much as I'd like to. Producing a track as whole is also pretty fun.

Question: What motivates you most when writing music?

Lakshane: To be the best artist in Australia.
