"Blue", a sweet pop song with a chorus that will have the country singing.Occasionally a pop song will move you. Sometimes a pop song will make you dance. Now and then a pop song will mysteriously give everyone in the room an uncanny ability to master air guitar. And then once in a lifetime, a band like Her Majesty's Finest will package up a collection of pop songs which do all that and more. Drawing influence from the likes of The Beatles, Oasis and Paul Weller, the Melbourne act spent 2002 finalising their debut album "Get the Business Done" and reading about how they were Australia's next big thing in publications such as The Age and Inpress.
Confident that the timing is right, Her Majesty's Finest have created "Blue", a sweet pop song with a chorus that will have the country singing. A precursor to their album, the single will be released on February 3 with performances including showcases at Australian Music Week and promotions around the country.
Her Majesty's Finest is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Mav, an enigmatic frontman who cut his teeth in mid-90s rock band SYMMETRY which folded after some minor success. Re-emerging as a solo artist in 1998, Mav quickly honed his new sound and songwriting, developing his career with a long-term plan, first perfecting his energetic stage presence, then beginning the learning curve required for recording studio perfection.
Not content with the sound he was getting as a solo artist, he recruited Adrian "Fingers" Ryan, Warren Hunter and Mariano "Mars" Marcos to form the tight-knit foursome that would begin their journey in the independent music world.
Long-time admirers, Stephen Green and Mark Bloodworth were looking for a new project for their new Fireball Records label and the band was the perfect fit.
Blue has already turned heads as one of the band's most impressive live tracks and has received outstanding feedback from radio. Her Majesty's Finest are the band that will bridge the gap in Australian radio between Taxiride/Invertigo and The Vines/The Datsuns.

"Ever since Mav did his first gig at the Greyhound, I had him marked down as something special. He treats his audience with respect, puts in a huge effort to put on a great show and is the best networker. Last night blew me away. The whole performance was polished, the songs delivered with panache and I could definitely hear the hits." - Neil Wedd (Indie Initiative)
"These fellas were the hit of the night. Don't miss them" - Ben Christie (Inpress)
