Audra Lynn Interview

Audra Lynn Interview

Audra Lynn

Audra Lynn, is a singer who claims "there's nothing else I'd rather be doing!" Audra has been singing since she was a little girl, now 18, she has developed an outstanding mature voice.

Audra has participated in singing contests as well as being the lead singer of two rock bands which took her to recording albums and performing on stage. Audra enjoys the genre of rock the most, especially those with a melodic edge.

Audra produces metal rock music with a pop-rock feel, very similar to pop rock band, Evanescence. If you listen carefully to the lyrics of Audra's songs, you will understand she is singing from the heart; she portrays the lyrics through her matured tone and stunning vocals.

Audra's alternate melodies have a very soulful rock sound and lyrically she explores many themes of love, despair and anger.

I Don't Care shows us a darker side to her rock music with sad yet thought provoking lyrics such as; "Took away all that I was about / Now you left me with pain / Now all I have is the shame".

The song, Lights, shows a romantic side to Audra. The song explores heartfelt lyrics; "Were you dreaming of destiny / In my arms where you lay asleep / Holding on to the one thing I can keep love/ Passion flowing in champagne skies / Breathing essence of you tonight".

Interview with Audra Lynn

How did it feel to hear your song played all over the airwaves?

Audra Lynn: It was pretty surreal! All my life, I grew up listening and singing to the radio, and then suddenly there's my music, being played along side the same artists I grew up listening to; broadcasted to millions of people. Then the topper, was getting the opportunity to perform live on some of those same radio stations!

Did you have any pre-conceived ideas about the music industry?

Audra Lynn: Yeah, and they were all wrong compared to how hard it truly is! On the creative side, I had no idea of the amount of work and time that went into creating an album. On the business side, there's just as much work and time invested, if not more, to advertise and promote it.

Do you write your own songs? What's your inspiration?

Audra Lynn: I do write my own songs, and have become pretty adept at doing it on the fly, in the studio. There's no better inspiration for music than life itself!

What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your own?

Audra Lynn: I love a variety of music/artists; from Mariah Carey & Christine Agqarala, to Robert Plant and Pink Floyd. As to genres, I love Rock, Pop & Alternative.

What's next? Tour/Album/Single?

Audra Lynn: Well the first thing that's lined up is that I just received a sponsorship from BoneBreakerz.com, which is focused towards providing the latest fashion for extreme sports fans and Luscious Label, which provides the hottest couture designs for females. I'll be appearing at many different events for them, including performing live at XFevents.com Cage Wars on March 27th.

As far as a tour, album, or single next, maybe all 3! I'm exploring those options right now. I'd rather not go back to square 1 again, and have to build a new band from scratch. I went through that whole process, these past 2 years, with my last band. Plus, even though I'm still young, I think I've built up a pretty solid body of work. I'd really like to hook up with an established band, preferably one that either has a record deal in place, or is on the cusp of landing a record deal, where maybe I might be that last missing piece. I've actually just started the search process and have already gotten numerous offers, but unlike many in this business, I'm going to show some patience and wait for the right opportunity and the right fit. With that being said, if I can't find a situation I'm happy with, my Producer Alphonse Faggiolo and I, will return to the studio and build 'the monster' once again.

Was there a moment you contemplated throwing in the towel?

Audra Lynn: Noooo! Though it gets tough at times, you've got to develop a thick skin if you plan on sticking around long enough to make it. A few things I've learned these past couple of years, it doesn't matter how you get there, and how you presently think you're going to get there, will most likely not be the case. In music, to get from point A to point B, it's usually not a straight line; it's usually a crooked line with some sharp zig zags mixed in. The important thing is that you need to have the moxy to overcome the hurdles you'll find, and the integrity to fight off the sharks and leeches that will try to grab onto you for a free ride.

Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Audra Lynn: I like both. The studio part isn't as glamorous as most people think, and it's a lot of long hours and a lot of hard work. The cool thing is that you finally get to hear your musical ideas come to life. Performing live is always a blast, especially when you're playing in front of a large crowd.

What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Audra Lynn: Definitely Mariah Carey!

What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?

Audra Lynn: Learning to deal with the politics and back stabbing that unfortunately seems to go hand in hand with this business.

What's a typical day like?

Audra Lynn: I am still in school, graduating this year! When I come home I do my homework first, and then go straight to my music. In addition to singing, I've been taking guitar lessons; so I practice that for about an hour a day. Finally, I work on my singing and writing songs.

What has been your favorite part of becoming a music artist?

Audra Lynn: Getting to do what I love most, and better yet, getting the opportunity to make it my career. Not many people get a chance to make a living doing what they love most.

If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Audra Lynn: There are so many I would love to collaborate with; Mariah of course, Christina, Alicia Keys, Joan Jett, Alanis Morissette, Stevie Nicks, Shine Down, Under Oath, and the Foo Fighters, to name just a few.

Are you single? What do you look for in a partner?

Audra Lynn: Yes, I am single, way too young to be in a relationship. I do not need that type of drama in my life…lol. My Music is my partner!

Can you tell us 5 things required for a happy healthy & enjoyable life?

Audra Lynn: Plenty of Rest is Very Important
Eating Right
Exercise
Treat People with respect and be kind to others.
And always do what makes you Happy- For me that is singing and writing my music!

What message would you like to say to your fans?

Audra Lynn: Thank you so much for your support! What a great feeling it is to get your wonderful messages, it picks me up so much! I'm so thankful that you take the time, out of your busy lives, to reach out to me. I try to answer all of your messages and comments. You're the ones that keep me going!
