Yazmindi Avocado Latte

Yazmindi Avocado Latte

Raw, honest and vulnerable with powerful harmonies and undulating melodies, Yazmindi navigates the complexities of moving away from home and the special, unbreakable connection between place and person. Captivating and quirky with roots of longing, Yazmindi's gorgeously evocative ode to Far-North Queensland is a triumph.

Whether its performing at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas (twice), Woodford Folk Festival or playing at the local Byron Flea Market, Yazmindi's sound is far-reaching and pierces the heart so directly that you can't help but get whisked away to a dream land of Yazmindi's creation.

"A love song for Far North Queensland which I wrote while working at a café in Melbourne, homesick! Raw and honest, a song straight from my heart, yet tongue in cheek teasers playing with Melbourne's city stereotypes." Yazmindi

Refined guitar and gently undulating harmonies gorgeously grounds this song, providing the perfect base from which her lyrics can flourish. Her authentic evocative songwriting and swelling harmonies are reminiscent of former iconic front-runners Courtney Barnett, Missy Higgins, and Kimbra.

Born in Cooktown, tropical North QLD, Yazmindi moved to Melbourne in 2018 and found herself unable to make the journey back home. Inspiringly, she used this time to explore this experience through her music, which translates into such a raw piece of art that is understated in its power. A unique quality of this track is the dual influences: written in Melbourne, and recorded in North Queensland with renowned producer Mark Myers (The Middle East, Emma Louise). Yazmindi speaks of this saying,

"It was so special recording 'Avocado Latte' back home in North Queensland, surrounded by people I grew up with and love. I had always dreamed of producing music with Mark from growing up listening to his band's music, The Middle East. Everything felt natural and flowed smoothly in the studio and I had so much fun bringing the final version to life, exactly as I had envisioned it, in my head and my heart." Yazmindi

Yazmindi has proved herself as an unstoppable force, leading the next generation of indie alternative, roots and country in a uniquely youthful way, firmly proclaiming her artistry in the contemporary. A testament to her versatility, her repertoire expertly dances across genres, dabbling in pop, rock and soul with her unique harmonica and stomp box sprinkled throughout.

There is no denying Yazmindi's dedication and passion for music. From recording her first song at 12 to releasing her debut EP in 2014, Yazmindi's drive is impressive. The common thread throughout her career is an authenticity that is refreshingly needed.

2022 is shaping up to be a monumental year for the unstoppable Yazmindi. She currently has the goal to crowdfund $10,000 (50%) of the costs involved for the production of her debut album. In addition, she'll be doing live streams and concerts to support this. Until then we'll wait with baited breath to see where this force of nature will go, with all of us in tow.
