Heavy Machinery Records is very proud to present 'Complicated' - a brand new EP from The Merindas.
The Merindas are showing their true essence with this disco/pop EP, as they continue to find their unique voices and individuality through the lyrics and production of the new tracks.
The tracks on Complicated explore themes of relationships, falling in and out of love, while also expressing happiness, uplifting feelings and more matured outlooks on life.
Complicated was co-produced by The Merindas and Simon Moro at Ninety Nine 100 studios, and features a fusion of electronic and live instruments.
The Merindas are the collective force of Ballardong Whadjuk and Nyoongar woman Kristel Kickett (from Tammin, WA) and Candice Lorrae of Jawoyn and Thursday Island heritage (born in Darwin, NT). Now based in Melbourne, these soul sisters are set to trail-blaze their innovative style of Indigenous music.
The Merindas formed in 2012, singing Motown hits for the premiere of The Sapphires movie. What was supposed to be a one-off show became a full-time career, having performed more than 400 shows in the last eight years. Garnering rave reviews on the live circuit, playing festivals and major corporate events across Australia, The Merindas present a world-class, fresh and energetic show.
More recently, The Merindas were part of The Bigsound 50, signed worldwide publishing with Gaga Music, and securing live representation with Select Music, one of Australia's most successful and independent agencies. They were also announced as nominees in the 2020/2021 Music Victoria Awards (Archie Roach Award for Emerging Talent) and showcased at SXSW Virtual Music Conference 2021. In 2020, The Merindas released their debut LP 'We Sing Until Sunrise'.
