The Barossa Vintage Festival
Australia's largest and longest-running wine tourism event, The Barossa Vintage Festival, is shaping up to be one of the best yet, with locals and visitors alike anticipating a range of events and activities for the whole family over the Easter long weekend from April 23 to May 1, 2011.
Traditionally celebrating the end of the grape harvest, the Festival has come a long way since its humble beginnings back in 1947 and this year the biennial event will take to the picturesque village greens, streets, parks and vineyards as well as some of the most renowned wineries of the Barossa Valley.
Offering free entertainment for the whole family, the opening
'Carnival' - from 10.30am on April 23 at Seppeltsfield Winery - will feature local food and wine, live musical performances, children's games, an Easter egg hunt, local artisans and helicopter joy flights.
Dedicated food lovers will be salivating over the
Yalumba Harvest Market in Angaston on Tuesday the 29th and Wednesday the 30th of April. Don't miss your chance to snap up exclusive local produce at the regional food market, tuck into a traditional Barossa brekkie, and learn celebrity chef secrets from Stefano de Pieri at the cooking school.
Visitors can celebrate the end of the week and kick up their heels at
Under a Hot Tin Roof, an upbeat band night with a vibrant mix of sounds. Held at the iconic Tanunda Town Hall on Friday the 29th of April from 8pm-1pm guests are encouraged to unwind with fine wines and great food.
Be sure to visit Australia's premier wine region over the Easter long weekend to be entertained and inspired by the very best of the Barossa's wine, food, music, art, culture and tradition.
