Teisha doubt

Teisha doubt

TEISCHA drops another compelling offering - the effortless, stylish 'doubt' marking her third official release of 2020, her most prolific year yet.

'doubt' sees Teischa enlist renowned producer UNO Stereo (Khalid, Kaiit, Denzel Curry), who weaves his signature warm, modern production to sonically elevate her sound into definitive R&B territory. Typical of Teischa's style, 'doubt' melts her elegant vocal and intimate songwriting effortlessly with weighty hooks and forward-thinking production.

Coming together in a couple of short hours, 'doubt' was originally written with the intention of giving to someone else. However, after sitting with the track, Teischa grew too attached and decided to release it as her own. The effortless vibe of 'doubt' was borne at the scribbling of the first line at Teischa's second home - The Base Studios in Melbourne. As Teischa explains, "'doubt' came together super naturally. There was no overthinking - we just went with what felt right in the moment."

Lyrically 'doubt' leans into universal relationships, filling the gaps of "the in-between". It speaks to the spaces where love, lust and desires blossom but are yet to be named - if ever. "It's about daring the other person to open up a little, about addressing the elephant in the room. I think no matter the type of relationship, we can all relate to that," Teischa explains.

'doubt' follows Teischa's single 'be alone' from July this year, the video for which has gone on to become her most-watched, hitting the 10K milestone in under a week. Speaking simply to the fear of being lonely, 'be alone' is a uniquely brilliant left turn, with its ghostly piano and stripped back acoustic guitar hosting one of Teischa's most intimate vocals yet.

Teischa launched 'be alone' at MOJO's in Fremantle in August to a sold out, hometown crowd. At the end of September Teischa took to the stage at Waverock Weekender - an intimate music festival in WA's outback - alongside Tame Impala, Pond, Stella Donnelly, Spacey Jane and many more.

Both 'doubt' and 'be alone' follow Teischa's lauded debut project - the momentary mixtape from April this year. Using her distinctive brand of smoky, R&B-infused future pop momentary is an evocative journey through a scrapbook of previously released songs, rough recordings from past travels and raw voice note demos, layered over additional production by some of Australia's most prolific producer exports including Lucianblomkamp (6LACK), Konstanin Kersting (Tones & I), Sam Sakr (Dua Lipa) and Carl Dimataga (Khalid).

With the promise of a fresh body of work on the near horizon, 'doubt' and 'be alone' have set an impressive tone for what's to come.
