With friends and family celebrations happening all over the Australian summer, Victoriaʼs oldest family owned winery, Tahbilk (Est.1860), has created a stunning summer spritz to li spirits and leave any gathering high on the fizz.
Created almost by accident by cellardoor manager and wine lover Holly Cusworth, the unique ʻSticky Spritzʼ is sure to take off.
Playing around with wines and flavours, Holly was inspired to build on the enduring spritz trend and create one of her own. Blending Tahbilkʼs late picked Cane Cut Marsanne with their NV Coueslant Chardonnay Pinot sparkling, Holly has stumbled on a winning combination.
Think lush tropical and marmalade characters with sweet honeysuckle and a clean acidity from the Cane Cut Marsanne, along with notes of melon and red berry from the sparkling wine, the combination just works!
Newly minted mixologist Holly adores how surprising the ʻSticky Spritzʼ is, saying, "The combination of sweet and fruity flavours in this spritz is delicious but not cloying. The acid in the sparkling cuts through, creating a not-too-sweet summer sensation. Itʼs my new ʻgo toʼ drink, but really it's so special as weʼve never really served or sold a drink like this before, combining two wines from our classic portfolio."
The recipe is simple:
● Half fill a wine glass with plenty of ice and add the following:
● Tahbilk Cane Cut Marsanne
● Tahbilk NV Coueslant Chardonnay Pinot sparkling
● Top with soda water
● Add a squeeze of fresh orange juice and stir
● Garnish with a slice of orange and a sprig of thyme and enjoy!
The ʻSticky Spritzʼ pack will be on sale at Cellar Door for visitors, at the Tahbilk Restaurant on the Estate, or the ingredients are available for sale online, delivered straight to your door!
