Hopscotch lines on the driveway, chasing games, spitting cherry seeds in your back yard…
We all have quintessential Aussie summer memories from our childhoods –but what about the current generation of kids? According to research conducted by Planet Ark, 73% of respondents played outdoors more often than indoors when they were young, compared to only 13% of their children. The research shows that there has been a dramatic shift in childhood activity from outdoor play to indoor activity in the space of one generation.
Given the current generation's play habits are so different from their parents' – with more time
spent glued to the screen ‐ will they look back on their childhoods with such fond nostalgia of days spent in the sun, running through the sprinklers?
Australian Cherries – reminiscent of playful summer days spent making cherry earrings, cherry
lipsticks and chomping as many cherries as possible – is on a mission to ensure our current
generation of children don't miss out on creating similar memories.
To celebrate the start of the cherry season and to encourage families to play together this summer, Australian Cherries has revived the playful childhood memory of cherry seed spitting
and created a board game called -Spit Or Miss'.
The limited edition -Spit or Miss' game is available free with purchase of Australian cherries at
local green grocers nationally, and via facebook.com/AussieCherries.
