Sounds Of Sirus Singularity
Distinct from all others, 'Singularity'; the punching albumette (that's right, it's not an EP, its not an album, it's an albumette) from Melbourne five piece Sounds Of Sirus.
Drawing on their time in previous outfits (Revolucion Street, The Grand Arcanum, Girl Pilot and Omniana), Sounds Of Sirus have developed a kicking live set with mesmerising vocal presence from lead singer Josh Day.
Covering every inch of the stage, there's no question why they have built a solid reputation through touring Melbourne's venue circuit over the past two years, performing alongside some of Australia's most respected artists including; The Getaway Plan, House vs Hurricane, Cog, Behind Crimson Eyes and Twelve Foot Ninja just to name a few.
Comparable to a mixture of Circa Survive and Dead Letter Circus with their hard hitting, solid rhythm section, massive delay soaked guitars and unforgettable vocals, leave their melodies stuck in your head for days.
Sounds Of Sirus are Josh Day (vocals), Liam O'Reilly (bass, backing vocals), Rory Bond (guitar), Peter Morianos (Guitar) and Marcus Brousse (Drums).
Recorded and mixed by Matt Darcy at Basin Studios, and drums by Sam Osborne (House vs Hurricane), 'Singularity' marks the Sound Of Sirus' debut is available now, featuring new single 'Day By Name'.
Review: Sounds Of Sirus has a uniquely compelling sound that combines solid upbeat instrumentals with strong vocals. Singularity showcases the bands detailed beliefs, growth and a life-long dedication to music. The strong instrumental background provides the perfect backing for the extremely well written lyrics.
Singularity is an amazingly fresh albumette with a strong melody - I haven't heard anything like this before and in comparison to other music in the rock/indie genre Sounds Of Sirus are way ahead.
Josh Day, the vocalist, has an amazing voice and whilst Singularity hosts seven tracks that will make you want to jump around and sing really, really loud, you can still understand and relate to the lyrics! All of the songs on Singularity are a highlight but I personally believe I Won't Be Listening was the standout track, with a hard hitting chorus and an around powerful influence.
