Having made their presence well and truly felt with their introduction to the scene in 2020, Sydney's SoSo are back and ramping things up as they prepare for the release of their debut EP, I Wouldn't Call This Success...But It's Close Enough.
Following on from a string of successful single releases through last year, the self-proclaimed 'offensively average' pop punk group is well and truly operating at a creative peak with this record. As the final taste of the EP before its release, today SoSo release the fired up and yearning single, 'The Great Escape'.
Recorded at Sydney's Electric Sun Studios, SoSo worked with producer Stevie Knight (Stand Atlantic, Yours Truly) as well as James Paul Wisner (Stand Atlantic, Saosin) and Grant Berry to bring I Wouldn't Call This Success… to life.
The music is personal and reflective of the leap of faith the band members took in committing to making SoSo work, having been in other outfits for years previous and ultimately not reaching the levels of satisfaction they had wanted. It's the sort of feeling we can hear represented in a song like 'The Great Escape': the tone is hopeful and impassioned, while remaining honest throughout.
"I guess you could say 'The Great Escape' just encapsulates the big ol' Hail Mary play of having one more go at cracking the music industry. The same kinda play as bringing Michael Clarke into bowl late on Day 5 of a Sydney Test match, needing three wickets to win...and we all know how that magical moment went." - SoSo
