Solarsafe Wristbands - Don't Burn this Summer
Summer is on its way and you can almost smell the sizzling beachside BBQ, but in our rush to soak up the sunshine it's easy to forget about the long term damage we are doing to our skin. Designed to change colour when you need to top up the sunscreen or hit the shade, Solarsafe Wristbands let you enjoy summer while still protecting the kids' sensitive skin from harmful UV rays.
While most Australians know the dangers of overexposure to UV, SolarSafe takes the guess work out of just how much sun your skin can handle, giving you a simple way of checking your family's UV exposure at a glance. The wristband uses photochromatic materials and compounds that change colour when exposed to UV light.
SolarSafe believes that education is one of the best ways to prevent skin cancer and that their UV monitor wristbands are the perfect tool for teaching kids how to be sun smart. A fun new accessory, SolarSafe wristbands give kids a simple, tangible link to sun exposure and protection.
Waterproof and adjustable to fit both adults and children, SolarSafe UV Monitor Wristbands are efficient at temperatures up to 50°C and at a relative humidity of up to 100%, perfectly designed for a day at the beach. The wristband also doubles as an ID, coming with a waterproof sealed sticker where a parent or guardian can write their contact details if they get separated from their child on a day out at a crowded area such as a beach or carnival.
Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world, with the Cancer Council Australia reporting that approximately 382,800 Australians are treated, and over 1,400 Australians die from skin cancers each year. Thankfully skin cancer is a preventable disease.
How the wristbands work:
When the wearer applies sunscreen to the wristband as they do their own skin, the wristband mirrors the skin's protection from UV rays. The intermediate colour change warns the wearer to reapply sunscreen, while the final colour change (to skin tone) alerts the wearer that they are about to reach the point where their skin will start to redden and burn. The higher the SPF of the sunscreen, the longer it takes for the band to go through its three stages.
SolarSafe UV Monitor Wristbands are designed for one day use, and are available in packs of seven for $13.95
SolarSafe offers a complete range of innovative sun protection products including sun screen, lip balm, face sticks, and their completely new sunscreen towlettes.
