Thredbo and the Snowy Mountains came to life this weekend as country music fans from all over the nation headed to the region for a weekend of impeccable music at The Snowy Mountains Country Music Festival. Set against the natural surrounds of Australia's highest mountains in Thredbo, the festival enjoyed perfect weather as crisp country tunes ran down the Thredbo valley and throughout the mountains.
An early highlight included a stunning set from songstress Catherine Britt who graced the main stage in the early afternoon. Deriving powerful vocals, she enthralled festival goers before young-gun Morgan Evans set the crowd alight with some powerful country rock. Pitted as the next Keith Urban, country music fans revelled as the up-and-comer performed an energetic and electric set.
"It's a great festival and great event to experience the mountains and enjoy some music," Evans said of the event.
As the sun began to dip behind the mountains, The McClymonts were warmly welcomed to the stage. Renowned for being the nation's best loved country music group, they delivered a breath taking performance that was high in energy and emotion as they sang the sun down.
'What a night we had at The Snowy Mountains Country Music Festival! Looking out to the crowd in front of the beautiful mountains was an amazing sight and we loved performing our set to such a rocking audience. We can't wait to come back again," said Sam McClymont
Finally, headline act and country music troubadour, Adam Brand, put a great exclamation point on the festival with a show that fans won't forget any time soon. Excited to be involved in the event, Brand has pitted the festival as the next big thing in country music.
'The Snowy's Festival has all the makings of being the next big Australian country music festival! Iconic location, amazing venue with the beautiful Thredbo Village as the backdrop and great country music. What more could you want?!" said Brand.
Fans that missed this year's country music festival can still experience the magic of music in the mountains with the Thredbo Jazz Festival in May. Back for its 28th year, the three day celebration of jazz, food and wine, set in the heart of the Snowy Mountains offers a perfect setting to enjoy some of Australia's finest musicians.
