Sydney based singer songwriter Ollie Brown has just released his new EP Backroads, featuring lead single -Backroads'. To mark the occasion he will launch the EP on Wednesday November 8 at Leadbelly, Newtown, with special guests Brendon Moon and Andy Golledge.
Over the last few years, Brown has been busy writing and playing live shows, his efforts leading to this stunning 4 track EP.
Of the song writing process for this EP, Brown said, "I needed to capture what was going on in my head so I left Sydney with a car full of instruments and recording gear and drove to a friend's cabin on the Mid-North Coast. I spent a week there by the river, exploring and finding different ways to record what I was spitting out. I got very lost in the songs and the whole recording process and I think it brought out a certain kind of honesty that you can hear in the music."
'For me, 'Backroads' is about the fear of losing yourself. I've never felt more involved and attached to my own work. This EP is one hundred percent me. It's the first time that I've engineered, produced and played everything with a little help from some special friends. 'Backroads' is free-spoken and partly stream of consciousness. It is the most open and honest I have ever been and my songs will always be that way."
Brown is fresh from a support slot with James Reyne on his extensive All Crawl national tour, presenting him with an opportunity to showcase music to a vast audience, and to further hone his live set.
