Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner, which means for Patrón – it's Tequila Time! However, this year, why not say adios to the staple Margarita and instead try something refreshingly new and with a twist?
Although not celebrated in Mexico, this date has since become a cultural celebration of all things Mexican, particularly tequila-based goodies. So, this year enjoy your favourite enchiladas, tacos, and burritos alongside the perfect sips for entertaining this Cinco de Mayo!
For a true Mexican experience devouring delicious Patrón Silver, Patrón Reposado or Patrón Añejo cocktails, we have prepared some of the best recipes to fiesta with:
Smoked Sea Salt Margarita – a twist on the classic.
45ml Patrón Silver
15ml Fresh lime juice
15ml Pineapple juice
15ml Agave nectar
1 pinch of smoked paprika
Smoked sea salt rim, lime for garnish
Prepare a rocks glass by moistening the rim and rolling it in smoked sea salt. Add ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake to chill. Fine strain over fresh ice cubes in the prepared glass. Garnish with a lime and a dusting of smoked paprika.
Mexican Martini – a classic cocktail with a margarita-style twist that brings the citrus and the shaken class together. See the delicious recipe below:
45ml Patrón Reposado
22.5ml Orange Liqueur
30ml Fresh lime juice
7.5ml Simple syrup
3 Olives on a pick for garnish
Lime wheel for garnish
Combine liquid ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice to chill. Strain into a chilled martini-style cocktail glass. Garnish with olives and lime.
Perfect the party with a Pom Pom Punch – an easy, fruity sip that fires up the fiesta this Cinco de Mayo! Ideal for the cooler weather, and entertaining for the holiday date. Jug recipe (10 serves) below:
240ml Patrón Reposado
1 bottle of red wine
270ml Pear brandy
240ml Orange juice
60ml Ginger beer
Orange wheels, pear slices, apple slices, seasonal fruit.
Add all ingredients into pitcher and mix to combine. Pour over standard ice, garnish, serve.
Sideline Cider – enjoy Patrón Añejo, a tequila aged for 12 months to produce a distinct oak-y flavour.
60ml Patrón Añejo
45ml Apple cider
22.5ml Simple syrup
22.5ml Fresh lemon
Grated cinnamon for garnish
Lemon wheel for garnish
Add all ingredients in glass mug over standard ice. Grate cinnamon sprinkles over the top and garnish with a lemon wheel. For hot cider, slowly heat all ingredients in saucepan.
