Perth duo SLUMBERJACK have built a devout following over the years with their imaginative, and forward thinking bass music. With the ability to create knockout festival anthems, their talents have also led the duo to create a range of vocal driven electronic, collaborating with the very talented Vera Blue, Sydnee Carter, and Claire Ridgely. Continuing to earn praise from global tastemakers on recent releases including 'Surender', and 'Poison feat Sydnee Carter', SLUMBERJACK deliver one of their most exquisite releases to date with 'Memory (Feat. Tailor)', and b-side 'The Reprise', out now on Sweat It Out. Known for their stunning array of EPs including SLUMBERJACK, Fracture, SARAWAK, and Black & Blue, today the duo announce their largest undertaking to date - the release of their highly anticipated debut album titled 'Dichotomy' due later this year.
Featuring the airy yet commanding vocals of UK singer-songwriter-producer Tailor, 'Memory' exudes the class and style that's become synonymous with a SLUMBERJACK record. Speaking on the concept behind its creation, the duo share "2020 gave us a lot of time to reflect and spending a ton of time at home made us realise that memories are really the only thing we ever have - they're what makes us who we are. We wanted to capture that feeling of uplifting nostalgia and bittersweetness that comes with remembering the past. We used a lot of analogue synth emulations to get that fuzzy, comforting, warm tone and Tailor's airy vocals on the chorus really drive it home."
Released in conjunction with a b side titled 'The Reprise', SLUMBERJACK approach the release with a darker soundscape, leading to an eerie sense of melancholy, before injecting big bass beats, truly taking the single from analogue to digital. Resulting in a dramatic building of tension throughout, 'The Reprise' is a lively and energetic take that stands on its own two feet.
Boasting over 150+ million streams across their releases to date, as well as certified Gold records for both their SLUMBERJACK EP and hit single 'Fracture', the duo continue to deliver works suitable for the biggest stages in the world. Continuing to collaborate with a wide range of local talent including Alison Wonderland, What So Not, KLP, and Daniel Johns to name a few, SLUMBERJACK have become an integral part of the Australian dance scene. Adored the worldover for their continued innovation across genres, SLUMBERJACK have earnt themselves multiple Hype Machine number 1s and support from leading dance publications across with the world including EDM.com, Indie Shuffle, EARMILK, YourEDM, ThisSongSlaps, ThisSongIsSick, Nest HQ, and Run The Trap, with Dancing Astronaut praising them for their unique "dissonant future bass sound".
