Segers I Was Never Lost Without You

Segers I Was Never Lost Without You

At the tail-end of 2019, Segers released Sip Your Scotch - the first offering from her upcoming four-track EP. The song was raw and revealing, taking the listener on a journey through a dark time in Segers' life where she felt drawn to people who weren't good for her. Blending ambient electronica with Segers' rich voice and evocative lyrics, Sip Your Scotch was a bold yet beautiful confessional -- perfectly setting the tone for the I Was Never Lost Without You EP to come.

Once again baring her soul through her lyrics, Segers took a fearless approach to follow-up single You'll Know I've Won, which she describes as a song for anyone who has ever doubted you. "It is the idea that sometimes proving people wrong is such an amazing motivator even though it isn't always the most healthy," the Perth singer-songwriter explains. "I guess this song was written out of that and a sense of rebellion."

This is indicative of the EP at large, which is the result of years of songwriting and self-observation. Teaming up withproducer Cam Bluff (Amy SharkAllday), Segers has distilled her innermost thoughts into music that belies the emotional weight of the lyrics. This juxtaposition of light and dark is nothing new for Segers. In fact, it would be fair to say it is her trademark.

Also following on from 2017's charming singles The Wandering and Call Out Loud, under the moniker of Segers, Stacey-Ann Pietersen's debut EP Little Lines forged the path that she is now on – introducing the world to a musical force of equal parts talent and humility. Part of the new generation of Australian artists who brandish both the skill and determination to earn their place in the public consciousness, Segers has the potential to be a true breakthrough – bridging the gap between honest songwriting and big radio-friendly pop hooks.
