Sabrina Lawrie Dreamstate

Sabrina Lawrie Dreamstate

Sabrina Lawrie is screaming back to the scene with a raw, adrenaline-pumping new rock single 'Dreamstate'.

The new single is officially out on the 8th of January but is available now exclusively on the 2020 Rockin' 4 The Homeless compilation album alongside tracks from The Super Jesus, Hoodoo Gurus, Diana Anaid and more. The compilation album is to help raise funds to provide support and services for the homeless people in Redcliffe Peninsula region in Queensland.

'Dreamstate' is a fiery, intensely passionate and engrossing track that oozes Lawrie's menacing attitude. The track packs in intimidating over-driven guitar riffs accompanied by wailing guitar licks and solos that are backed by the aggressively pounding drums all while Lawrie belts and wails out a slick vocal delivery making this a badass and unabashedly feminine rock track. Lawrie explains the meaning behind 'Dreamstate':

"It explores the polarity of masculine and feminine and pays homage to the deeper magic behind sexuality and acknowledges how this most natural of human impulses is a sacred union, attempting to shake the stigma that mainstream society places on sex."

The release of the track comes after two years of wild growth and overcoming a personal challenge that forced Lawrie into an unplanned hiatus on the back of her critically acclaimed 'Hush The Mountain' debut album release of 2018.

In early 2019, three weeks after removing the metalwork from her spine following the recovery of her broken back, Lawrie's partner Ben Kerswell was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer (Glioblastoma) and given less than 6 months to live. A complete shock which turned their lives completely upside down. The making of her second album was abruptly put on hold while the pair navigated their new reality, treatment, healing and a new way of life.

"We have beaten the odds so far through the power of music, plant medicine and holistic self-care and we are focused on living in each moment as presently as we can, so we are both over the moon to finally be finishing and releasing music and being able to play together on a stage again after such uncertainty. Ben is going to join me on lead guitar for this run of shows to celebrate the release of 'Dreamstate'," said Lawrie.

"The invitation to be included on the Rockin' 4 The Homeless compilation by Dan Nebe was the real catalyst for me to return to the rock recordings I had started with Jeff Lovejoy back in 2018 and to get that motor moving again. The initiative means a great deal to me so it felt like the stars had aligned to make it happen."

Previous releases from Sabrina Lawrie have seen support from Rolling Stone (AU)Triple J, Double JtheMusicScenestrBeat MagAAA BackstageHappy Mag4ZZZ and much more.

Lawrie will be celebrating the release of 'Dreamstate' with a run of shows in January with her full band and her partner Ben at her side. 'Dreamstate' is available now exclusively via Rockin' 4 The Homeless.
