Off the back of their third full-length SOLACE LP release on Friday, live-electronic trio RÜFÜS DU SOL have announced their Australian Solace Tour – their biggest Aussie tour yet. The epic run of shows will kick off with a festival headline set at Sydney's Field Day festival on January 1, 2019, before moving through Melbourne to play Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Adelaide's Entertainment Centre, Perth's Fremantle Arts Centre, Margaret River's Three Oceans Winery and finishing up at Brisbane's Riverstage on March 2. Massive venues, massive tracks; it's set to be the Aussie live music event of the new year.

Equal parts rock 'n' roll temperament and ethereal electronic sound-scaping, SOLACE shepherds the band into a realm of sonic exploration all its own. The tracks retain the anthemic qualities that have propelled the band into one of electronic music's biggest live juggernauts, but from the offset SOLACE is their darkest and most introspective work to date. SOLACE was showcased last week as triple j's Feature Album, receiving incredible feedback and reviews as the tracks resonated across the country.

SOLACE opens with the regret-tinged stanzas of 'Treat You Better,' a breakout track that's catchiness belies the lyrics that yearn for the simplicity of past years and second chances. RÜFÜS DU SOL has built their huge fan base on euphoria and melody, this release delivers both. The band's lyrics reveal a very personal documentation of their inward struggles. It's a brutally honest outpouring, which can't help but move both feet and heart.

It's this duality that makes this record both fascinating and captivating. RÜFÜS DU SOL has managed to make an album full of kinetic energy and dancefloor appeal, and yet, it is cloaked with a sense of aching. The discomfort felt throughout the record is balanced by the welcomed lightness that comes when internalized problems are faced head on, illustrating a story of self-love realised.

A sense of place and the sentiments that accompany it have always been a crux of the RÜFÜS DU SOL songwriting process. The band's debut album was recorded in Australia's idyllic east-coast while their sophomore BLOOM LP was produced in Berlin. These environments imbue the record with a certain mood and flavor, and SOLACE is no different. Recorded in Los Angeles, the record exudes not the Hollywood glitz, but rather the shadowed lest oft seen underbelly of the city as well as the barren but beautiful spaces of the desert.

In Australia, the band's debut album ATLAS reached #1 on the ARIA Album Chart and reaped Platinum status – such success was repeated in 2016 with their follow-up record BLOOM, which saw the album claim top spot on the ARIA Album Chart and achieve Platinum certification. In Australia alone, the band's catalogue has been streamed over 110 Million times – an incredible nod to RÜFÜS DU SOL's unparalleled electronic talent and inimitable sound. BLOOM offered RÜFÜS DU SOL's most iconic singles, 'You Were Right' and 'Innerbloom' and launched RÜFÜS DU SOL on a two-year international tour, playing over 100 sold-out shows across 13 countries, making them one of Australia's most successful live-music exports globally. The band's 2016 Australian tour, featured 2 sold out shows at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion, and an epic set at Listen Out Festival where the band headlined.

The Australian Solace Tour follows a rigorous two-year world tour which saw the band perform everywhere from legendary California festival Coachella, to Serbia's EXIT. This intensive period of touring helped pave the way for the SOLACE live show, crafted through years of varied live experience for the band. Giving fans a rare insight into what to expect for the upcoming tour, Tyrone says, "This new show has allowed us to be able to take people on an inner journey and to get lost in the depths of Solace. It's the most ambitious live experience we've put together yet."

The brand new live show will push the band's on-stage abilities to new levels. With an emphasis on jamming and live improvisation, the trio will bring the magical spontaneity of their studio process to the stage in an unprecedented format. Bringing a host of new analogue gear into the fold, as well as a revamped visual setup, the new live show will allow for each RÜFÜS DU SOL performance to be sonically distinct. Of the upcoming shows, Jon says, "Some of our favourite moments have been at these outdoor venues. These live experiences just bring everyone together - whether you're losing your friends, or finding new ones, but being so content in dancing and connecting with the music and the band on stage. We really hope to bring those moments and create that emotional connection over the summer."

On top of the album release, upcoming tour, and the bands' recent relocation to Los Angeles, they have also officially launched their own record label, Rose Avenue. The name serves as a tribute their Venice Beach home, and the friends they have shared it with. With a new album, new record label, and bold new live show, RÜFÜS DU SOL have laid the groundwork for what will easily be their most ground-breaking year yet.
