Directors: David Fairhead and Ant Palmer
Synopsis: Rialto Distribution has acquired the Australian & New Zealand rights to Spitfire, the documentary feature film which tells the story of the fighter plane through the first-hand accounts of last surviving combat veterans. Narrated by Charles Dance (Game of Thrones, Ladies in Lavender), Spitfire will release in New Zealand on September 6 and in Australia in October, following its UK premiere as part of the RAF centenary celebrations.
Featuring digitally remastered archive footage from the 1940s, the film traces the aircraft's creation and role in the Battle of Britain and combines the archives with specially shot aerial footage of the Spitfire in action by photographer John Dibbs.
Rialto CEO, Kelly Rogers remarked: "We see this as flying straight out of the gate, and in the true nature of Spitfire pilots and planes, it will reveal a moving, dramatic and exciting take on those daredevils who risked it all for their country."
