Gold Coast 5 piece Radolescent unleash their new EP 'Excellent People' today. The EP is a smorgasbord of fast and furious punk rock tracks that showcase their own musician influences, as well as providing a look at the group's dynamic and unique sound that has been fine-tuned from playing sold out shows supporting Dune Rats and Beddy Rays.
Since their debut EP 'Scrape Ya Plate' back in 2017, Radolescent quickly became one of Queensland's most exciting new exports, releasing an album 'Prehab' in 2019 and adding an extra member to their line up. The five-piece have also toured with the likes of Press Club, Ruby Fields, Bad//Dreems and The Chats.
The tracks on the new EP 'Excellent People' came together across a number of different sessions in different locations, with the drums being recorded at Blind Boy Studios in Queensland, mixing with Greg Reitwyk from Lunchroom Records in Melbourne, and mastering with Dan Walker in New York.
"An ode to all things people, the band spent the year of COVID recording and mixing 'Excellent People'. Beginning with the drum tracks at Blind Boy Studios, the group recruited the help of their close friend Ben Wade of the Beddy Rays to track the drums. Isaac then recorded all remaining parts in his 11th floor apartment during state lockdown, taking turns of having Kerrod and Lachie over to track their parts. Upon Rachel joining the band they then tracked the vocals and sent the stems to Greg Reitwyk from Lunchroom Records in Melbourne. Finally the help of Dan Walker in New York was enlisted to master the tracks and the record was complete. A process truly full of excellent people, even down to the group vocals at the end of 'Home', captured in the inside the bedroom during a party held when nothing was open due to restrictions. A COVID responsible party of course!"
Radolescent's new EP features current single 'Home' which premiered on Triple j Unearthed Tops program, and previous Triple j Unearthed favourites 'Couch' and 'Calling Out'.
The new music video for 'Couch' was made on the sunny Gold Coast, and directed by lead guitarist Kerrod Chant. Comic style graphics of the band members feature beneath the lyrics, with backyard shenanigans and general raucous behaviour. An ode to the quintessential adolescent life!
"Excellent People' was initially just the band joking around with titles and finding abbreviations for EP. Many months later a box of old polaroids appeared from Rachel's closet and the name was cemented with many old images containing all of our friends from the past decade, countless memories of festivals and parties, birthdays and cruisy sundays."
