Can good things emerge- unexpectedly- from the cancer journey?

Reeling from the death of her mother to cancer, Sally Collings saw nothing positive about the disease. After reading that two out of three cancer survivors and their families consider that something good has come of their experience, Sally decided to find out more. She sought out people who had encounter cancer- either personally or through someone close- and delved into what they thought.

Featuring deeply personal insights from author Stephanie Dowrick, Sass and Bide founder Heidi Middleton and former Australian cricketer and AFL player Simon O'Donnell amongst many others, Positive represents a collection of voices: cancer survivors, carers, partners, parents, siblings. Together their stories map out the terrain of the upside of cancer: the opportunity to draw together and the torrent of support, love and prayers that are unleashed; the impetus to go deeper and embrace the strength, feats and purpose that lie within each of us.

Sally Collings worked in book publishing for almost twenty years, dividing her time between London and Sydney. Now based in Brisbane and a mother of two, she is a freelance writer and editor, working on a range of books and magazines. Sally's work focuses on stories of inspiration in the broadest sense- from portraits of life after loss to accounts of academic excellence. Sally's first book, Sophie's Journey, the inspiring story of Sophie Delezio, was a national best seller.
