Pillow Queens Holy Show

Pillow Queens Holy Show

Pillow Queens are Ireland's most urgent, yearning, queer indie-rock band. Made up of Sarah, Pamela, Rachel, and Cathy they channel their thoughts on the world around them through their precision songwriting.

They share their brand new single 'Holy Show' featuring the band's signature catchy guitar licks and angsty vocals, taken from their upcoming debut album In Waiting set for release on September 25.

The band share: "'Holy Show' is a song that relays the feeling of regret and insecurity about past words spoken and actions taken, even when they're ultimately meaningless. The song tries to articulate the heavy burden of being the only person who is concerned about the minute details of how you present yourself to the world."

The 'Holy Show' music video is another beauty from video director Kate Dolan, who also directed 'Handsome Wife' and 'Gay Girls'. Dolan is an acclaimed art house horror film director and the band's trusted video director, bringing Pillow Queens' songs to life through her incredible cinematic storytelling.

Dolan shares: "Myself and the girls are all queer so when they asked me to direct something for 'Holy Show' we all felt it was time that we made a video that had some positive queer representation. There are often depictions of queer women in the media that really upset me. We are often observed through a male gaze by male directors. They are often hyper sexualised. We wanted to create something that really captured the joyful intimacy between queer women through a female gaze."

Pillow Queens have started feeling the love in Australia for their most recent single 'Handsome Wife', from the likes of Triple J, RRR, Frankie Magazine, The Australian, Music Feeds and many more. Around the world they have been praised by the likes of The Guardian, NME, Clash, The Line Of Best Fit, Dork, BBC Radio 1 and Gig Wise to name a few. Having played Festivals in Europe and due to play SXSW this year, the band have solidified their status as "One To Watch" in 2020. Not too long ago they crossed shores to play shows in the USA and have their eyes set on visiting Australia as soon as they can.

In Waiting is their debut album set forrelease worldwide on September 25. In Waiting is the result of four years of brotherly love in a sisterly unit. Crafted from their lives, and honed in a studio in rural Donegal in the northwest of Ireland, this is a record by queens in waiting and kings in the making. Why are we waiting?

Waiting. Waiting for futures to be carved out, for missions to be complete, for communities to be solidified, for the security denied to a generation to return. Waiting for the empathic revolution. Waiting for the end of capitalism, and the start of something real and fair. Waiting for spin to die and authenticity to be valued. Waiting for lost loves to return and fumbled relationships to form, for small cracks in families to heal and bigger cracks in inequitable systems to break. You're in waiting a long time. And then you just have to do it yourself.
