Moss Kena Found You In 06 EP

Moss Kena Found You In 06 EP

The Highly Anticipated Debut EP

After capturing the attention of Kendrick Lamar with his funk-infused soul rendition of To Pimp A Butterfly cut These Walls, Moss Kena has returned with his highly anticipated debut EP, Found You In 06  through Ministry of Sound, Colt Club and Sony Music Entertainment Australia. With five new tracks, including latest single -You Don't Know', Found You In 06 sets Moss up as not only an insatiable song writing talent, but justifies the hype from such tastemakers as Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Mistajam, DJ Target, Ebro and, of course, Kendrick Lamar himself.

Opening with the heavenly tones of Square One, Moss draws the listener in with his heavenly tones, telling the story of learning from his own mistakes (watch the Holly Blakey directed video, originally premiered on Nowness HERE). The hip hop inflected dramatics of You Don't Know accelerate Kena's voice to the fore, again placing his unmistakable higher register on the centre stage. Spend Some Time employs more of a laid-back flow, displaying Kena's versatility in subtlety while enlisting the rough-edged wordplay of New York's LEIKELI47. The throbbing tempo of Games directly contrasts with the track's desperately longing lyrical content, while Problem has a low-slung swing that is the perfect rhythmic foil for Moss Kena's velvet-esque delivery.

Found You In 06 is a direct reference to the creative epiphany Kena felt on hearing one of modern R&B's most defining voices in Amy Winehouse. Of the EP's name, Moss said: It's basically the time in my life when I really had my musical awakening and really got into it and discovered what I really liked through the rise of people like Amy Winehouse with the release of the Back to Black album.  I really felt I had found music I connected with and just started discovering some classics and other artists and music that started to shape my musical identity"

The spirit of classic artists such as Winehouse and her contemporaries are certainly felt through the EP, creating a body of work that's bold, confident and multifaceted. Found You In 06 is the perfect introduction to Moss Kena; a generation-transcending new voice worth making noise about. With live shows and more new music planned in 2018, now is the perfect time to get acquainted with the artist being praised as "the future".
