It's been the stage for some of the world's biggest sporting events and performances, but on Sunday November 13 one of Melbourne's most iconic venues, the MCG, is set to be transformed for an exciting new music event.
Forming part of City of Melbourne's Melbourne Music Week, LOVE LIVE MUSIC at the 'G will see up to 2500 music fans taking in everything from acoustic tunes and smooth jazz to upbeat pop and indie rock, with 16 performances across nine exclusive indoor and outdoor MCG locations.
In addition to main stage performances by The Delta Riggs and Pierce Brothers , attendees will be able to wander through a mini music festival of local acts in otherwise off-limits corners of the MCG, including the player change rooms, the edge of the hallowed turf and the new Robert Flower Terrace.
Established and up and coming artists performing will include Woodlock, The Pretty Littles, The VANNS, Coby Grant and many more (see full schedule here).
While the MCG has hosted a number of modern-day concerts since David Cassidy first graced the stage in 1974, from David Bowie and U2 to Michael Jackson, LOVE LIVE MUSIC will be the first time the venue, or any Australian stadium, has held music acts in multiple locations at the same time.
Melbourne Cricket Club CEO Stephen Gough said the club was thrilled to open up the ground and offer Melburnians an exciting new live music experience.
"The MCG has hosted a range of world-class performers over the years, from Madonna to the Rolling Stones, but this is the first time the wider stadium has transformed into an interactive music festival."
"We encourage Melburnians to come and be a part of this unique music experience - enjoying a range of musical genres at the same time as exploring a range of otherwise off-limits MCG locations."
With only 2500 tickets available for this unique event, and limited VIP tickets, music lovers are encouraged to book early to ensure they don't miss out.
