LA-based powerhouse Lady Blackbird (aka Marley Monroe) shares her brand new single 'It's Not That Easy'; an achingly beautiful interpretation of the deep, southern soul obscurity by Reuben Bell & The Casanova, the track is another showcase of Blackbird's remarkable brilliance.
The new single is the fourth instalment from her highly anticipated debut album Black Acid Soul, due for its long-awaited release September 3 via BMG AUS. The album also includes 'Collage', 'Beware The Stranger', and naturally a re-imagining of Nina Simone's 'Blackbird'.
With a voice that has stopped critics in their tracks, Lady Blackbird is a revelatory new talent with music that transcends the jazz scene through which the LA-based artist is rooted. Reflecting influences as varied as Billie Holiday, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner and Chaka Khan, with critics drawing comparisons to Adele, Amy and Celeste, Lady Blackbird's distinct and beguiling talent is not one to be missed.
Mesmerising musicians and tastemakers alike, Marley was invited to perform a stunning rendition of 'Angel Dream' at the late Tom Petty's 70th birthday tribute. Honouring the greats has come as a musical process to Marley, having recorded her highly anticipated debut album Black Acid Soul in legendary Studio B (Prince's room) in Sunset Sound, produced by Grammy-nominated Chris Seefried.
