Joshua Moriarty Isolation

Joshua Moriarty Isolation

Melbourne songwriter, composer and host of the podcast The Bottom Of ItJoshua Moriarty, returns with a new single, aptly titled 'Isolation'. Recorded and written in 2019, the track was produced in LA by Australian studio wiz and ARIA nominated producerTony Buchen, who Moriarty worked with in the past as frontman of Miami Horror.

"I wrote this song at the beginning of 2019, I had been travelling back and forward a lot to LA for music and gigs etc and I just started to forget who I was and what it was I was attached to. Everywhere I went nowhere felt like home and I was very disconnected from everyone and everything." says Moriarty. "The blessing of being a touring musician is that you get to see the world but the other side of that can be extreme isolation and loneliness. I decided it was probably a good time to get this one finished and put it out, as it's taken on slightly new meaning now."

'Isolation' is released through La Bestia Sello, a Mexico City-based label Moriarty has become close with over the last year after they released his last single 'Savage Love' (and the Spanish version 'Amor Salvaje').

After releasing his second record Romantica ('Swimming', 'Red Dog') in 2019 Moriarty has been working on his third record entitled Melancholia with Buchen, which is set to be released later in 2020. It will be a continuation of his love for nostalgic and whimsical pieces, inspired by compositional icons of the 50's and 60's like Henry Mancini and Ennio Moricone. Unlike Romantica however (which was 90% instrumental) Moriarty will be singing again on roughly half the record.

Moriarty is an artist inspired by the classics, both contemporary and antiquated. He has been in the music industry for over 15 years and in that time has never stopped writing and performing, usually across multiple projects. Over the years Moriarty has collaborated and released music with Chris Taylor (Grizzly Bear), Middle Kids, Dhani Harrison, Kimbra, Chris Cester (Jet) and many other great artists.  In his life as a frontman he has graced the stages of Coachella, Live-Out Mexico City, Breakfest Colombia, Big Day Out, Groovin' The Moo, Summadayze and plenty more.

Through his podcast The Bottom Of It, Moriarty has candidly interviewed the likes of Reggie Watts, Queens Of The Stone Age, Mark Mothersbaugh from DEVO, Donny Bonet, Gareth Liddiard (Tropical Fuck Storm /The Drones) and more.
