Cleopatra Records is proud to team up with one of rock's true trailblazers, an artist whose music career spans 5 decades across a wide swath of genres and impacting such venerable acts as David Bowie, Patti Smith, Lou Reed and Pete Burns of Dead Or Alive. She is the one and only Jayne County, rock's first openly transgendered vocalist, and today she comes with a message that is sure to resonate far and wide. Co-written by an emerging singer/songwriter and guitarist Am Taylor, "I Don't Fit In Anywhere" is a rock anthem for all the misfits and outcasts pushed to the margins of society, made to feel different, ashamed and excluded.
As County puts it, "'I Don't Fit In Anywhere' is both a protest song and a chant for individuality! It's a song that I have written with Am Taylor that expresses a modern attitude toward one's self and the world around. Out of all the guitarists I have worked with, I have to say that Am Taylor is the best in translating my ideas."
Meanwhile, Taylor declares, "Jayne and I have a unique method of songwriting where she hums an idea she has in her head. I then figure out the melody she's humming, sort out a chord progression then we fashion a song around that original spark. It's like the rock n' roll gods and goddesses are guiding us along."
