Following the ratings bonanza and chart success in Australia earlier this, INXS have once again risen to the top of the charts in New Zealand.
Buoyed by the screening of the acclaimed INXS: Never Tear Us Apart mini-series on the national TV3 network over the last two Thursday evenings to massive ratings success, as well as extensive in-market promotion by band mates Kirk Pengilly and Tim Farriss (an Executive Producer of the show) – the renowned INXS catalogue has enjoyed an historic sales boost – reflected in this week's Official NZ Music Chart.
INXS' -The Very Best', released in 2011, has climbed to the Top of the New Zealand album chart – INXS' first New Zealand #1 album since the release of INXS Kick in 1987.
INXS' landmark -Kick' album from 1987 had also re-entered the album chart last week at #27 and moved up to #11 this week, its highest placing since 1987. Three of the top forty selling New Zealand albums last week were INXS titles.

When -Never Tear Us Apart' aired in Australia in February of 2014, the show achieved the highest viewership of any programme this year, reaching 3m people across the 2 episodes. It also resulted in INXS making ARIA chart history, with 2 albums (-The very best' @ #1 and -Kick' @ #2) at the top of the chart simultaneously – a feat never before achieved by any Australian band. -The Very Best' remained at #1 for a phenomenal 7 weeks and is the highest selling album in Australia for 2014. At the time of the broadcast, INXS had 6 albums in the ARIA Top 20 chart.
