Of the box: In Top Company Cask Wine Launches
• In Top Company, available in Pinot Grigio and Shiraz varietals
• 2 litre cask wine available exclusively through BWS
In 1965 Sir Robert Menzies was Prime Minister of Australia, Charles Perkins led the Freedom Ride and on April 20, a patent was issued for the first wine cask: a plastic bag holding a gallon of liquid, packed inside a cardboard box. From there the wine cask was born, and Australia's drinking culture changed forever.
Recently joining the cask movement is -In Top Company', a 2L cask wine available in Pinot Grigio and Shiraz varietals. The perfect drink to share in the company of family and friends, it meets the consumer trend of convenience, flexibility and ease-of-use, proving to be a perfect solution for those long, balmy summer nights.
According to Patrick Abrahams, Head of Wine, Pinnacle Drinks, the humble cask may not be the sexiest part of the wine business but it's a fascinating category that has been around for over 50 years.
'Increasingly we are seeing small format cask form part of the discussion and introduced into everyday repertoires due to the practical benefits that it affords consumers.
'There's no glass, it's easy to carry along to those outdoor picnics and BBQ's, has a reduced carbon footprint and of course, value for money versus the bottle option.
'And to ensure that it stays fresher for longer, the bag simply collapses preventing contact with air and oxidation, ensuring that the cask can't be corked or spoiled."
Designed to be enjoyed at the next dinner occasion, BBQ or picnic, In Top Company's Pinot Grigio and Shiraz are both available from BWS with an RRP of $10.00.
Tasting Notes;
• In Top Company Pinot Grigio - A crisp white wine with pear and apple flavours, ready to drink now with a nice, refreshing finish. It matches well with seafood and chicken dishes and is ideal for those wanting a lighter wine.
• In Top Company Shiraz - This medium-bodied red is crafted with sweet berry flavours and hints of spice. It goes well with grilled meat and spicy food, and is perfect for casual meals at home.
Review: In Top Company Pinot Grigio & Shiraz is the perfect addition to your spring racing event this October. Subtle favours, easy to drink and of course handy for on the go. Think this may also become a cricket favourite.
