Fueled by a desire to deliver a unique genre blend of neo hip-hop / pop that is designed to elicit an all-around sensory response, Sydney-based artist hunter 505 is doing just that with the release of his latest single 'handle'.

Showing an obvious affinity for songwriting, performing and production, hunter 505 has wasted no time since his 2018 debut, delivering multiple releases, including two five-track EP's last year in 'doom' and 'idgaf'.

Now, hunter 505 is back with a fresh new single, pairing profound lyrical proficiency with meaningful production to create the oceanic intensity of 'handle'.

Anchored by a mesmeric kick drum beat and bass combo, the track swells as high-end whistles land with the refreshing sting of sea spray. hunter 505's vocals are entrancing in their calm confidence, dripping with both hip-hop bravado and neo-soul sensitivity. As if lurking just beneath the surface, ominous synth notes rise up ahead of the chorus, warning of the swells of a storming sea. Intoxicating lyrical hooks hold steady until the bridge surges forth, crashing with huge thumping drums, leaving us floating untethered in the wide expanse of the ocean, unsure which way is up and which way is down.

But there is hope - you can't always get a handle, but you can still find something to hold on to.

Known for using his music to explore matters relating to the human condition, hunter 505 wrote 'handle' as an expression of the constant ebbing and flowing from one feeling to the next while remaining unable to move forward, as he explains:

"Emotions are what we live for, but they cannot be what we live by. 'handle' is an expression of the constant ebbing and flowing, toing and froing from one feeling to the next, all the while getting nowhere. Like an expansive ocean surrounding a meagre boat being thrust around in a storm, the song explores a mental battle and the struggle to find stability and hold on."
