HAiG Freeze The World

UK rock act, HAiG's debut EP, Freeze the World is out now on digital and vinyl, released through Golden Robot Records.

The bastard son of Billy Bibby, formerly of Catfish and the Bottlemen, Wry Smiles and New York Tourists, HAiG produce what is best described as an explosive, melodious rock 'n' roll sound with a hint of alternate flavour. The line-up is completed by Carl Rutherford and Joe Mooney who bring an incredible amount of experience and ability to a killer rock line-up with an intense, authentic approach to their music.  

Their debut EP, Freeze the World is a dynamic, creative and unique culmination of the signature HAiG sound, recorded with Dave Pemberton who has worked with everyone from Invaders Must Die to Prodigy, and features 5 outstanding tracks, including recent singles, Never Enough and Did I Just Make You Smile?.

ABOUT THE EP
"Billy, Carl, Joe, and Tom (before he left in Jan), have put our hearts and souls into this EP and we are proud of the final result - considering it's only 12 months since we formed from the ashes of other bands. We feel that over that time we've grown into what we now consider the signature HAiG sound - one that gives us a euphoric feeling to blast the songs out live." - HAiG

First single, Did I Just Make You Smile? was not, it has to be said, an immediate favourite of the band's at the demo stage. It was when they put all their instruments behind it in the studio that they knew how epic they could actually make the track.

"Recording it with Dave Pemberton and listening to it at the sound desk proved that their instinct was right!" - HAiG

Our Times caused a much more "instant good feeling" from the lads when Billy sent them the demo, than the first track. In many ways they felt it had the ingredients to be the lead single, but decided to save it and put out the less obvious ones first. The song was actually inspired by the ABBA track, Mamma Mia. 

"We like the chord progression in that song and have tried to work it into our sound and song. Lyrically, it tells the story of our times and how we should be thankful that we live in a world where we have every bit of help to get on with life and have a good time." - HAiG

A grungier number on the EP is Just Like The Others.  Billy had worked on this track before he joined the band but had it on the side-lines waiting for the right time.
"Our sound matched it when we started rehearsing - it was the first we properly learned together. We think the lyrics are more important because the title is a contradiction of the actual meaning. It's about finding someone who isn't like all the others and what that persons' qualities would have to be for a good relationship." - HAiG

Never Enough was the second single release.

"It took a matter of days to write - whereas some take a lot longer this just flowed. Whilst it's one of the heaviest we do, as a band we think it has a catchy chorus so, although not an obvious choice. Like Our Times we thought that it would make a big impact and also show what we're about when we play live." - HAiG

Last, but not least, Freeze The World. 

"We always finish with this one when we play live so, we thought it also suitable to close the EP. Lyrically it's a bit of an imagination-type song really going into the depths of a muse. It's really more down-to-earth than that, but we like it develops into something bigger and bigger as the song progresses. Fleetwood Mac were a big inspiration for the song - a more aggressive and heavier version of The Chain.  If it's half as good as that song we'd be happy anyway, so hopefully we did it justice during the recording!" - HAiG
