Guy Pearce The Nomad Release

Guy Pearce The Nomad Release

Celebrating the forthcoming release of his second album, titled The Nomad, Guy Pearce will perform an intimate, semi-acoustic concert at the Playhouse Theatre, Arts Centre Melbourne on Sunday, July 8.

Produced by his old friend, acclaimed singer/songwriter/producer Joe Henry, 'The Nomad" is a collection of deeply personal songs, all written by Pearce, each one reflecting upon the dramatic changes in his life since releasing his debut album, Broken Bones in 2014.

With his three-decade, internationally successful career as an award-winning actor, the unveiling of Broken Bones took fans and critics alike by surprise for many reasons – not the least which being that his long-hidden musical talents revealed an accomplished pianist, guitarist, singer and songwriter; an artist not afraid to bear his emotions (check out the soaring Overflow and the exquisite title track, Broken Bones) nor afraid to poke fun at himself (as in the quirky Fly All The Way and noisy Leader Of The Land).

Pearce then impressed local fans when he performed the album at sold-out shows in Melbourne and Sydney, before hitting the road with ex-Powderfinger veteran, Darren Middleton on their acclaimed multi-city Broken Translations tour.

For The Nomad, he will perform one show only – in between filming commitments in Europe and Australia - with a four-piece band comprising of his long time friend Tim Neal on keyboards, Marty Brown on drums, Steve Ely on electric guitar and himself on piano and guitar.

Whilst Broken Bones is lushly produced with layers of vocals, strings and synths, there is still a familiar delicacy that is also evident with 'The Nomad", the latter inviting the listener to feel more up-close-and-personal with Pearce, who recorded the album with an exceptional line-up of musicians: Patrick Warren (piano, Hammond B3 & synth), David Piltch (upright & electric bass), Adam Levy (acoustic & electric guitar), Jay Bellerose (drums & percussion), Levon Henry (sax & clarinet) and the Section Quartet Orchestra, with partner and mother of his first-born son, actor Carice van Houten singing backing vocals on two tracks.

Says Pearce, "I had a rather tumultuous year back in 2015. It began, sadly with my marriage coming to an end.

"After going on the road to tour Broken Bones in February I then started work on some new material, which is essentially what's formed this new record. It is very personal and does delve into the melancholy at times but it also allows for that beautiful -silver lining' that keeps us going in life. It was such a joy to collaborate with my old pal Joe Henry at United Recording in LA. What an amazing and historic studio, and working with the musicians Joe invited was a truly inspiring and uplifting process."

The Nomad will be released digitally worldwide on July 6th, with CD and limited edition vinyl available in Australia and New Zealand music stores, and through www.guypearce.net.

Tickets to see Guy Pearce's The Nomad album launch are on sale from Monday, May 7 through Ticketmaster.
