Radiating with their feel-good indie-pop magic, GENIIE BOY have left lasting impressions since debuting at the beginning of the year. The Gold Coast duo are now set to bloom with the release of their playful new single 'Bad Company', ahead of their debut EP 'If You Have Something To Say'.
GENIIE BOY's first two releases, 'Fool's Play' and 'Bruises', have exhibited the duo's vibrant and charismatic style that latches on and doesn't let go.
Building upon that, 'Bad Company' bursts with a high-spirited energy and charm that's pushed forward by Alisha Todd's yearning vocals. Adding colour to this indie-pop-bop is a host of intricately produced layers of instrumentation, from bubbling synths and precisely picked guitar lines to the running basslines and captivating array of percussion. This combination, alongside the spellbinding vocal melodies, makes 'Bad Company' so inviting.
Naturally, the upbeat, inspiring and freeing feeling of the track is a fitting reminder to be loud, be proud and be the best company. Alisha Todd elaborates the meaning behind the track:
"'Bad Company' is about finding your voice again and playing with the idea that you are bad company when you are not being true to yourself. It also talks about external entities influencing who you become, usually at a cost to someone's happiness/fulfilment."
Contrary to the title, GENIIE BOY have been found in good company as they've graced the main stage at Jungle Love Festival and performed at the internationally recognised So Far Sounds as well as grabbing the attention of the likes Spotify ('Bruises' landed on 'Fuzzy' playlist), Triple J, Triple J Unearthed, AAA Backstage, Blank GC, Scenestr and more.
