Evan Klar Figure It Out

Since the release of his debut album Deepest Creatures in 2017, Evan Klar has been the behind-the scenes, go-to name for collaboration. The Melbourne songwriter, producer and self-confessed bedroom-pop addict shares a new track titled 'Figure It Out'. The track features the spellbinding voice and co-production from Berlin's rising star Novaa and is the second to be revealed off a forthcoming EP which is expected to be released later this year.

'Figure It Out' is about feeling insecure about the future, accepting it and pursuing happiness. Klar and Novaa had one chance meeting before being cast into lockdown, their instant chemistry saw them push-on and finish the project remotely. Together they wanted to share a song that makes people smile, feel good and gives them a break from what they are facing right now.

"Figure It Out is a conversation that transitions from sour to sweet" Explains Klar "We can get anxious about not knowing what lies ahead but if we persist there's always positivity and pleasure to be found. Like meeting someone for the first time, it can switch from awkward to pleasant with the right ingredients. Figure It Out represents just that. I met Novaa for the first time and lucky for us the stars aligned. Novaa is both expressive and chill with phenomenal chops. 

Given the songs story and how it came about, it was important that we release this song immediately whilst it's most relevant and the emotional connection is still strong".

Novaa responded with "Funnily the day 'Figure It Out came' into being was the only day Evan and I met in person. We didn't know much about each other, I guess we mostly knew about each other's music, but we instantly had the same vibe and feeling, so the writing process was very natural and easy. After our first session we wanted to meet up again to work on it, but then the whole pandemic situation happened so we finished it off remotely".

"'Figure It Out' to me contains the feeling of being insecure about the future and in a vague situation but accepting it and wanting to be positive about it. Even if we sometimes feel like we're fighting someone or something when we are scared, there is no opponent and nothing working against us, we're all on the same team. To me 'Figure It Out' is the feeling you have when you realize that. I hope it makes people smile and feel good and gives them a break from the struggles they are facing right now".

It follows closely behind single 'I Do' which was added to the triple j playlist and was co-produced with Nikolai Potthoff and Tobias Kuhn (Milky Chance) and crafted with a broken bass guitar, pocket synth with verse vocals recorded on a mobile phone is the first official single to be lifted off a new EP which will arrive later in the year. 2020 is set to be an exciting year ahead for Klar, who has not only lent his expertise to upcoming releases from Kate Miller-Heidke, Austen, Essie Holt and more but will be releasing music of his very own. Watch this space!
