Eagle & The Wolf Currawong

Eagle & The Wolf Currawong

Following the release of their lively little cracker Something Good, the first single taken from EAGLE AND THE WOLF's forthcoming album Two Lovers (which has been played across community radio & added to high rotation on ABC Country & Australian Country Radio), the Blue Mountains' duo take it back a notch with the tender & beautiful follow-up single Currawong.

Of the song, Sarah Humphreys says, "I was walking through the bush near our house in the blue mountains and a song came to me, almost like it fell out of the sky. It felt like a gift from this special place. As songwriters, we live for those moments. Where the spark turns into a fire and a beautiful song is written with ease, all we have to do is be still, listen and try to catch it all.

We live near a waterhole which is sacred to the Dharug & Gundungarra people, it's a peaceful place and I walk that track a lot. I say hello to my favourite gum trees as I walk our littlest baby in her pouch when she needs a sleep. I sang the song all the way home and showed it to Kris and he had tears in his eyes, he loved it. It didn't feel like anything I'd written before, it has a quiet kind of magic to it."

And Kris explains, "This is a song that Sarah wrote that I was intent on stealing to use on this record. She resisted a tiny bit because like me I think she knew it was special. And she thought I might wreck it with guitars. Instead I just played a bit of banjo. And stood back and enjoyed the beauty of her and the spirit of the song. It's Sarah in all her magic."

Currawong is just another taste of what to expect from Eagle and the Wolf's second album, Two Lovers. The single is available on all digital platforms, followed by the album's release on September 17.
