2015 Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards

Some of Australia's most impressive new and emerging talent is today announced to perform at the The 10th annual Awards will take place on October 22nd at Meat Market in North Melbourne and will feature live performances from Airling, Bad//Dreems, Dead Letter Circus, Frank Yamma and Harts, showing off a diverse array of Australian independent artists.

Brisbane based singer Airling, aka Hannah Shepherd, has had a huge year with the release of sultry single -Stallin'' following on from a collaboration with Japanese Wallpaper on -Forces'. Airling kicked off 2015 peddling her sophisticated R'n'B on national tours with Vance Joy and Pieater label mates #1 Dads, and more recently performed at Splendour in the Grass with Japanese Wallpaper.

Up for an award this year with single -Cuffed and Collared' nominated for Best Independent Single or EP, four-piece rockers Bad//Dreems are also set to perform at this year's awards. Working with veteran rock producer Mark Opitz (AC/DC, INXS, Cold Chisel) and Colin Wynne, the band released their debut LP Dogs At Bay in August through Ivy League Records. Ragged rock, Dogs At Bay is about the band's relationship with their native Adelaide. A well honed live show has landed them spots at Splendour in the Grass, St Jerome's Laneway Festival and Groovin' The Moo, as well as support spots for The Preatures, Wavves, Cosmic Psychos and were also booked to play on The Black Keys tour before its cancellation.

Also joining the line up, one of Australia's most celebrated rock acts, Dead Letter Circus. Their recently released third album Aesthesis debuted at #1 on the Carlton Dry Independent Music Album Chart and #2 on the ARIA Album Chart. Released via label UNFD, the album was produced by Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Birds Of Tokyo) and Matthew Bartlem (Matt Corby, Jarryd James) and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge (Muse, Green Day). Previous albums This is the Warning and The Catalyst Fire have sold over 100,000 records combined, and both albums debuted at #2 on the ARIA Charts. Dead Letter Circus have taken the stage with giants such as Linkin Park, Muse, Judas Priest and Karnivool and have had entries in the triple j Hottest 100, and had their debut album This is the Warning voted into the triple j Hottest 100 Albums of All Time at #86.

Often credited with crossing cultural and musical boundaries, Frank Yamma is without a doubt one of Australia's most significant Indigenous songwriters and performers. An initiated Pitjantjatjara man from Australia's central desert, he sings in his native tongue and English. Latest album Uncle (produced by long time friend and musical collaborator David Bridie) is out through Wantok Musik Foundation and showcases Frank's honest songwriting, rich voice and exceptional guitar skills. Uncle is nominated for this year's Best Independent Country Album at the Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards, and was also nominated for a National Indigenous Music Award this year. Frank began performing at the age of 9 and has toured extensively both at home and abroad and we are thrilled to announce him as part of the line up.

Lastly, but by no means least is musician, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Harts. Blistering guitar shredding and deep funk grooves have seen Harts likened to Jimi Hendrix and Prince (whom he was invited to jam with at Paisley Park). Latest single -Breakthrough' follows on from previous single -Red & Blue' and Harts' 2014 debut album Daydreamer. The album was released through A&R Records/Shock and was written, performed and produced entirely by Harts who has affectionately been labeled a 'one man music making machine".
Melbourne based Harts will perform
