Brandon Duff Crystal Eyes

Brandon Duff Crystal Eyes

For someone so young and talented, award-winning Brandon Duff has covered a lot of ground for his tender age. His new single 'Crystal Eyes', comes fully formed by the wide range of experience he has had.

Based on the NSW Central Coast, Duff has worked to develop his skills in some high-profile arenas, such as on The Voice, The X-Factor and The Chase.  As the winner of the "Platypus Shoes Discovered" competition, he was also the recipient of a mentoring session with one of Australia's biggest stars, Amy Shark. Performing is in his DNA however, as his grandmother was an opera singer, and his mother and sister also have performing arts backgrounds.

'Crystal Eyes' was recorded by multi award winning producer Rod McCormack at his Music Cellar studio. Of the song, Duff says "Crystal Eyes is an emotional coming-of-age song. It explores ideas of youth and young love, drawing from experiences of finding someone new in your life and sharing your past heartbreaks to grow closer". The track features harmony vocals by Reigan Derry, who adds a rich female contrast to the melody.

Duff has done his share of touring, as well as opening for artists including Hoodoo Gurus and Sneaky Sound System. He's also worked Kyle Sandilands on the X-Factor, and Ricky Martin, Joel Madden, Kylie Minogue and will.i.am as a contestant on The Voice. Not limited to music, his range of talents also includes the unique skill of being able to solve a Rubik's Cube in under 2 minutes!

Duff was also a finalist in the Australian Performing Rights Association (APRA) Songwriters at The Rocks competition in 2021 with 'Crystal Eyes'. The song was no doubt recognised for its strong story-telling lyrics and ambient vocals. Duff's inspiration for the song drew on the heightened emotions we all feel at the start of a new relationship. "Being excited to have someone new in your life but with melancholy undertones knowing it may not last. There's a beauty about finding someone new that makes you feel refreshed and loved, but it can also resurface past feelings of loss that have never really left. I drew on experiences of youth, drinking in parks and staying out in Newtown, trying to find where you fit in the world. I have fond memories of going out with friends in the city and feeling larger than life and wanted to capture that within the song as well", Duff says.

The richness of Brandon Duff's voice makes 'Crystal Eyes' a bold statement of a song. Being born with Spina Bifida, he has seen a lot in his young life and rather than letting things get in the way, he uses them to make unique and special music. As Amy Shark said: "We should all just get ready to hear music from Brandon Duff". Here's your chance to be a part of something special.
