Beaumaris North Primary School Reward
Kids at Beaumaris North Primary School had their dreams come true when Cartoon Network's Ben 10 visited their school with an awesome inflatable obstacle course!
All 580 kids at the school got a chance to bounce and tumble on the massive obstacle course, with some teachers even brave enough to take off their shoes and socks and have a turn! The students also had a chance to meet Adventurer, author and Kids Helping Kids Awards Ambassador, Steve Crombie who signed t-shirts, posters and school hats for the hundreds of kids who lined up to meet him!
But Steve Crombie thinks that this reward was only fair in light of the work the kids had done to achieve it.
"I was amazed by the hard work and initiative that the kids of Beauy North showed in their fundraising for SchoolAid's Asia Pacific Emergency Appeal. I was also really impressed with the empathy and compassion that the students had for children whose lives had been shattered by the disasters in Samoa and Indonesia and their understanding of the impact that their fundraising has made upon disaster-affected communities in our region.
I travelled through Indonesia not long after the 2009 earthquake and personally met kids who were too scared to return to their houses after the 'quake. So it's amazing to see how funds raised by this appeal, including the money raised by the kids I met at Beauy North, have been used by SchoolAid in partnership with SurfAid, to help return kids to some semblance of a normal life, including return to school and the provision of trauma counseling.
Of course the recent tsunami in the Mentawai region of Indonesia has again affected the very communities that SchoolAid supported in early 2010, and I'm pleased to say that SchoolAid has responded by re-opening its Asia Pacific Emergency Appeal and partnering again with SurfAid for schools who wish to make a difference to this ongoing crisis."
The kids of Beaumaris North organised and ran their own mini-fete at lunchtime, raising over $4,000 to contribute to the total of over $90,000 which was raised for SchoolAid's Asia Pacific Emergency Appeal.

SchoolAid is a non-profit organisation which provides resources to principals and teachers to support them in creating philanthropic, caring students. SchoolAid believes that children have an innate sense of compassion and empathy, particularly for other children, and we provide children with the means to engage with children around the world - kids helping kids - and turn their fundraising efforts into genuine, engaged philanthropy.
