Bakar returns with his new project, Will You Be My Yellow, out 13th September via Blackbutter.
He has shared the single and video for lead track 'Hell N Back'. Shot by Aiden Cullen, the video follows Bakar on an empty beach in the early hours. There's a darkness masked behind the upbeat light energy - he's been to hell and back again to find peace. The macabre darker lyrics dance over an upbeat earworm and the irony isn't lost here.
A natural progression from his earlier work on 2018's critically acclaimed BADKID and 2019's CHILL - Bakar's new approach cements him closer to the hearts of his listeners while he bares all on track 'Yllw'; confronting the all-consuming nature of loss and coming out the other side. A moment he says has impacted his creative output for life.
Bakar sings sincerely on 'Ghosts', as well as on 'Stop Selling Her Drugs' - a track needing little explanation but with exuberant energy he bounds on with skits and sketches into the subtly seductive 'Been A Minute' finishing with the washed out reverb drenched 'Cashmere Tears'.
Bakar describes Will You Be My Yellow as a short story and a very necessary detour to his next album. Produced almost entirely by frequent collaborator Zach Nahome (BADKID) with a little help from Matty Tavares of BadBadNotGood.
Adding yet another honest release to his discography, Bakar's Will You Be My Yellow is a beautiful portrayal of his vulnerabilities. Looking forward Bakar hints to his debut album in the making with some live dates announced in the US as well as London, Manchester and Brooklyn in the meantime.
