Angas Plains Estate

Phillip & Judy Cross developed Angas Plains Estate, on their farming property in the heart of the Langhorne Creek, Wine Region in South Australia in 1994. Australian Wine and our environment where we grow our grapes is their passion and wish to share.

Angas Plains Estate is only 50 minutes drive South East from Adelaide (take the Mt Barker turnoff to Strathalbyn) an Adelaide Vineyard. The Langhorne Creek region is the second largest grape growing district in South Australia.

The district although long established (started in 1852) has grown rapidly in the past 20 years. It is recognised as producing exceptional full bodied red wines with soft tannins and fruit driven white wines.

Angas Plains Wines is a boutique wine producer winning a number of awards in recognition of their wines, that have great colour aroma and flavour.

Angas Plains Wines like to share their passion of having good wine and good fun with others hence have their cellar door open every weekend. They host a number of wine, food and music events during the year.

Producing quality fruit is important as is sustaining the growing environment. Growing crops between vine rows adds organics to the soil, preventing soil erosion.

Straw mulching under the vines has reduced water requirements, improved soil health and reduced the need for chemcial sprays. Angas Plains Estate uses natural pest control - a flock of native ducks that reside in their dam.

The team at Angas Plains Estate is committed to creating wines with dynamic flavours which can be consumed early but also have the structure to improve with cellaring.

Angas Plains Estate hold an annual grape stomp event for those who want to get more involved with the wine process.
