Interview with Amber Ojeda

Question: How would you describe Space Bar Love?

Amber Ojeda: Space Bar Love is an album about human experience, about relationships both internal and external. It truly is my inner monologue.

Question: How did it feel to hear your song played all over the airwaves?

Amber Ojeda: Humbling. I am always to full of amazement each time I hear from a new fan or station that has discovered my music. I am so grateful people connect with what I am singing about.

Question: Did you have any pre-conceived ideas about the music industry?

Amber Ojeda: Too many, but all I can control is the quality of my product. If I am being the best I can be, the rest will follow suit. Everyone is scrambling right now, it's a circus!

Question: Do you write your own songs? What's your inspiration?

Amber Ojeda: Yes, I write all of my songs. Inspiration changes depending on the day and my mood, lol.

Question: What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your own?

Amber Ojeda: Right now I am listening to the new Norah Album, Fiona Apple, Frank Ocean & Janelle Monae.

Question: What's next? Tour/Album/Single?

Amber Ojeda: Right now I am focusing on pushing "Space.Bar.Love". You can also catch me featured on a new Mixtape by Rapper/Producer Kovas dropping soon! AND I have a new project coming out in the winter called "The Lift" that I am very excited to share.

Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Amber Ojeda: Ahhhh that is hard! You know, I really thrive in the studio writing. It's like a drug for me. Soooooooo, at this second, that's my favourite place to be.

Question: What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Amber Ojeda: My Grandfather. He was very influential in my life. He had a big voice and an even bigger entrepreneurial spirit. He taught everyone in my family to follow their dreams. He believed that not taking a risk was the true definition of failure.

Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?

Amber Ojeda: Liars. I'll leave it at that.

Question: What's a typical day like?

Amber Ojeda: Pilates in the am, then I spend a lot of time listening to what's out there in music. I read blogs, do a lot of free writing (w/out music) and I try and read as much as possible. At night, I am in studios writing and recording. If I am not doing anything music related, you can find me at the beach lately!

Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

Amber Ojeda: Truly discovering myself. There are so many layers to us, some sad, others angry, even more loving. It is exciting to give myself the freedom to truly tap into all of it. It does leave me a little hyper sensitive to those around me at times though.

Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Amber Ojeda: Today, Frank Ocean.

Question: Do you have a website fans can visit?

Amber Ojeda: www.amberojeda.com

Question: Can you tell us 5 things required for a happy healthy & enjoyable life?

Amber Ojeda: Love.
Breakfast.
Communication.
Self discovery.
Love.

Question: What message would you like your music to say to your fans?

Amber Ojeda: Just a BIG old fashioned THANK YOU! I love you all.
