Byron based multi-instrumentalist's and singer-songwriters Ally Palmer and Matt Collins aka okmattcollins have just released their joint collaboration "Can I be Yours Tonight". Channelling an iconic 60's surf pop vibe on their first release together, Ally and Matt create a beautiful, heartfelt song that reveals their enticing blend of vulnerability and strength.

Ally's sound is reflective of the music that she loves and has listened to throughout her musical life. Growing up listening to Bruce Springsteen, Paul Kelly, Neil Young and Van Morrison on crackling vinyl records and having family sing-a-longs by the campfire sparked her early love for classic music. Palmer is inspired by some of the biggest household names of the 1970s including Labi Siffre and Donny Hathaway. After touring Australia as a keyboardist for a range of bands and artists, in 2016 Ally decided to take the plunge and pursue her original music. She has since released two EP's, both receiving Australia wide radio airplay and gaining herself a spot at 2017's Byron Bay Bluesfest. The film clip for her most recent release, 'Takin' It Easy' received viral attention, gaining over 100K views on Facebook.

Speaking on the track, Ally Palmer said, "Can I Be Yours Tonight was written with my good friend and very talented musician/songwriter/producer 'okmattcollins'.  I was lucky enough to work with Collins when creating my album back in 2020. I was talking to Collins and we were searching for fresh ideas for the album when he just started playing this beautiful chord progression on his acoustic guitar. Our voices and songwriting just gelled so nicely together."

The idea for the collaboration "Can I Be Yours" came about during the process of writing and planning Ally's album since she was looking for more material. The track was created while Matt was inspired and influenced by Alex Turner's (Arctic Monkeys) soundtrack to the 2010 indie film "Submarine"

"We had planned on writing a track together, so I showed her this and she really liked it. I took out the second verse and she wrote a beautiful story and sang it so effortlessly perfect. We worked on the structure before bringing it to Rockinghorse Studios in Byron Bay where we arranged and performed the instrumentation." says okmattcollins.

okmattcollins is the solo project of WHARVES frontman Matt Collins. While domestic and international touring has been limited/non-existent for the past two years Matt has been busy writing, producing and recording for himself plus a wide range of Australian Artists. In November 2021 he released his debut EP 'Everything's Changing' and is currently writing his sophomore EP which will be released later in 2022.
