VS Sassoon 2019 Winter Hair Trends

Michael Brown Shares His Insights on Winter 2019 Hair Trends

Summer is well and truly over so it is time to say goodbye to tousled beach hair. The change in weather and wardrobe calls for new hair looks and VS Sassoon's celebrity hair stylist, Michael Brown, has shared the 7 hair styles, cuts and colours that'll be picking up cool-girl traction this winter.

Comeback of the blowout
Winter will see the return of the blowout in all shapes and forms, from a rebellious 1980s edge to a classic lady-like 60s vibe. For a modern blow out, Michael recommends adding a touch of volume spray before drying with VS Sassoon's Digital Sensor Hot Air Styler.

Soft curtain bangs
This retro-inspired trend is sticking around for another year, but this winter will herald a move towards a softer look. "This cut is great for those with a larger forehead or heart shaped face and looks cute with a low pony or top knot", says Michael. Michael recommends styling with the Straight & Curl Brilliance Styler.

The dirty blonde
Following on from the low maintenance trend, going darker at the roots is the perfect farewell to your damaged, sun-bleached hair. This chic style mustn't look like obvious regrowth, and a good part helps make the grow out look natural. Michael recommends drying your hair in a parted position using the 5Q Brilliance High Performance Hairdryer.

The blunt jawline bob
The bob is set to continue its reign throughout winter following the trend towards embracing natural textures. Ensure the cut falls somewhere between your ears and chin, just in line with your jawline. To  style, Michael suggests using the Straight & Curl Brilliance Styler to add waves.

The grown-out pixie
Unlike the very short pixie style of last year, winter 2019 will see the grown-out pixie come to light. This shaggy pixie cut has body due to short sides with choppy layers on top, playful yet chic. Michael recommends using the Digital Sensor Hot Air Styler to style hair before adding texture with the 19mm Ceramic Curler.

The experimental top knot

A trend that is forever being reinvented, this season's bun comes with a messy twist and is perfectly styled with a high neck sweater. Michael suggests using a hair elastic in more than one part of the pony to create different bends or leaving out the ends for texture.

The gel/wet look.
This sexy trend is one of the best hairstyles for winter 2019. Michael suggests adding some volume using the Digital Sensor Hot Air Styler 3D paddle brush before using fingers to pull a small amount of gel through hair. Finally, use a wide toothed comb to style the front.

With winter around the corner, sun damaged, salty hair is out. It's time for a new look; whether that be haircut, hair colour, or hairdo – VS Sassoon has everything you need to keep up with the cold weather trends.
