NEW TRAINING FACILITY OPENS FOR GROWING DAY SPA MARKET
Immensely popular in Europe, Vichy Spa is now making its mark in Australia. To cater for this growing industry, Australasian College of Natural Therapies (ACNT) has opened the nation's first purpose-built training facility.
Water has long been recognised for its healing and therapeutic properties so it's not surprising the beauty industry has introduced this natural resource to its treatments, says Danny Bielik, general manager, ACNT.
ACNT's new Vichy Spa facility includes a Nautica VII Vichy Spa and has been designed to imitate the world's most exclusive resorts and spas.
Inspired by the waters of the French city of the same name, the Vichy Spa works by stimulating the body's pressure points with jets of water. The treatment is used to improve circulation and lymphatic flows, alleviate stress and hydrate the skin, she added.
Used in conjunction with a traditional massage, aromatherapy and body treatments, the Vichy Spa can also be used to rinse the body after a mud wrap or salt scrub.
According to Bielik, the training facility is the only one if it's kind in Australia and ensures students remain at the cutting edge of the beauty and natural therapy industries.
A viewing room has been incorporated into the facility so students can observe techniques while the Vichy Spa is in operation, she said.
With its spa therapy courses approved by the Australasian Spa Association, the college offers a range of courses for both massage therapists and beauty therapists.
For example, ACNT's July intake for the Certificate IV in Massage and Certificate in Spa Therapy consists of:
· History and Philosophy of Spa Therapy
· Body Spa Treatments including salt scrubs, dry brushing, full clay mask, mud masks
· Use of Spa Equipment including Vichy Shower, Scotch Hose, hand held hose
· Other Spa Treatments including Shirodhara therapy and Ayurvedic head massage
These courses are great for those practitioners wanting to upgrade their skills or for the general public wanting to gain entry into the growing spa and wellness industries, says Bielik.
Later in the year ACNT will be opening the Vichy Spa to the public, where professional treatments will be offered at a discounted price.
Students enrolled in any of our professional courses are required to complete a number of clinical hours. While the majority of these hours are spent at the College's Natural Health Care Centre in Glebe, we will also be opening the doors of our Vichy Spa to the general public later in the year.
